SUMANTH

Sumanth ,born february 9, 1975) is a prominent telugu film actor .he is th nephew of actor akkeneni nagarjuna and grandson of the legendary actor akkineni nageswara rao. Sumanth studied at th ehyderabad public school,completing his high school in1992.fOR HIS UNDERGRADATE studies, he went to the U.S. where he enrolled in an engineering course at michigan.he later realized that it did not match his career ambitions so he transferred to columbia college in chicago,where he recieved his B.A in film 1997,specializing in direction and screenwriting.Sumanth started his career in telugu cinema in1999 with ram gopal varma's prema hkatha.Although the film did only average business at the box office,Sumanth was appreciated for his performance.The film itself was critically acclaimed and recieved the nandi award, selected as the third best film of that year.His subsequent films,Yuvakudu ,Pelli Sambandham ,and Snehamante idera also did not fare too well at the box office .However in late 2003, after a self imposed hiatus of almost two years ,he delivereed his first blockbuster,Sathyam, which also happened to be actress,Genelia D'Souza's debut telugu film. Sathyam, which was produced by Nagarjuna, turned out to be one of the highest grossing telugu films of that year. In 2004, he followed it up with another hit film, Gowri, which confirmed him as a box office draw. The year 2005 did not prove to be too good for Sumanth as he starred in the flop Dhana 51 and the average running, Mahanandi. However in 2006, Sumanth was chosen to play the lead in Sekhar Kammula's Godavari, which remains the most critically acclaimed film of his career. It went on to receive several Nandi awards, including the second best film of 2006. Sekhar Kammula himself went on to receive the best director award. Godavari added a new dimension to Sumanth, popularizing him with the NRI and family audiences. In 2006, Sumanth's next release, Chinnodu, turned out to be an average grosser at the box office. In 2007, he ated in two films, Madhumasam and Classmates. Madhumasam, which was prduced by his uncle, D. Ramanaidu, proved to be successful at the box office, whereas Classmates did not fare so well. Subsequently in early 2008, Sumanth's home production Pourudu turned out to be an above average grosser. His most recent film, Boni, produced by the musi director, Ramana Gogula, released in mid 2009 and did not succeed at the box office.
